EDUCATION

The San Lorenzo Unified School District serves as the Core Lead for Education programming at the REACH Ashland Youth Center. The mission of the District is to work together with parents and the community to develop critical and creative thinkers who are knowledgeable, responsible, caring participants who contribute to a changing world. At REACH, classes and workshops are designed to strengthen educational support for youth and families and to nurture each individual’s unique talents and abilities in order to access their desired educational and career paths.

STUDY HALL AND HOMEWORK HELP

The REACH study center offers core subject support and provides homework help for students in grades 6-12 as well as offers academic support to older youth.  The drop-in center will be a space for students to work independently or in groups and provides the opportunity for students to use laptops for research. Study Hall hours are 4:00-7:00 and takes place upstairs in the Eden room.

COLLEGE INFORMATION RESOURCE CENTER AND WORKSHOPS

In order to support students with achieving their goals of pursuing higher education, EAOP (Early Academic Outreach Program) is partnering with the education program to provide a college information resource center as well as college information workshops at REACH. EAOP is a state-wide college preparatory program sponsored by the University of California. For over 30 years, EAOP has helped students prepare for college by creating a community of young scholars and offering college-preparatory advising and academic enrichment opportunities. The mission of EAOP is to prepare students from under-resourced communities for admission to colleges and universities.   College information workshops will include providing information about colleges, help with filling out applications and financial aid forms (FAFSA), offering scholarship information, etc. The EAOP counselor will be in the Resource center on a weekly basis and conduct monthly workshops throughout the year.  Please see the REACH Calendar for exact dates and times.
