Meal Applications for the 2020/2021 School Year
MEAL APPLICATIONS
*For the most rapid processing of your application, fill out your application online* PLEASE NOTE: If you have received a DIRECT CERTIFICATION letter in August 2020, you do not need to fill out an application. Please call 510-317-4660 if all your San Lorenzo students were not listed on the letter...you can add additional San Lorenzo students from your household without filling out an application.
Please submit only one application per family, per year. Paper applications will only be available at meal distribution sites until visitors are allowed on district campuses. The Child Nutrition Department does not house applications in their office (due to safety concerns & location of this office!). See below for instructions on how to fill out a paper application. The grace period for your student meal status will expire on October 1, 2020. If you have not filled out an application for the 2020-2021 school year by October 1st, your student will return to paid status. Free or reduced price meals are available to families who believe they may qualify. If your family chooses to apply, please complete a "Free and Reduced Meal Application Form". Please note, if you receive a letter stating your child qualifies for REDUCED price meals, there is no daily charge for that meal for this school year. Paper application forms can be filled out online or picked up at meal service sites and returned (completed) to the Child Nutrition drop box located in the front of the District Office. You will be notified by mail of your child's status. Until notification, you must provide your child a lunch or lunch money. Only complete one application per family. The information you give will be used to determine or prove your child's eligibility for free or reduced price meals. The information may also be used for other state or federally funded school benefits (more money for your classroom). Factors considered in the application process are household size and total household income. HOUSEHOLD SIZE is considered all persons, related or unrelated, including: parents, children, grandparents or any other persons who live in your home and share living expenses. The TOTAL HOUSEHOLD INCOME is the income each household member received last month before taxes - this includes wages, social security, pension, unemployment, welfare, child support, alimony and any other cash income. Foster children are categorically eligible for free meal benefits. An application is not needed, yet there does need to be documentation of foster status by a state or local entity familiar with the child's status. However, a change in the 2011-12 regulations states that foster children may be included in the household application as part of the household size. |
Meal Applications provided additional benefits to families and to the district! Find out more information here: |
